About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Making this costume was a dream come true! Many hours, tears, and much blood (literally) went into making this costume happen.
With this endeavor came another set of new skills - embroidery, prop-making, resin casting, and utilizing Worbla. Whew! So, yes - the armor is made of Worbla, as is my sword and sheath. Well, the sword is an amalgamation of things - armature wire, posterboard, a big wooden dowel, and Worbla. ;)
The sword was more stressful for me than I think it needed to be - I almost junked it and went without, but I forced myself to move forward on it, and I am glad that I did!
Krell also forayed into new skills - he made his own staff, complete with LED-lit runes! I am very proud of him, as he has never tried anything like this before, and I think it turned out quite well. :) - Personal Thoughts:
- Managed to finish my Deedlit costume for Otakon 2013! Krell joined me as the stoic mage, Slayn. ^^ Creating and wearing this costume has fulfilled a long-time dream cosplay on my list - I have always wanted to dress as Deed! Lodoss was a huge influence on who I am as an otaku and as an artist. My boyfriend joined me as Slayn, and I made his costume as well - he made his staff, and I'm quite proud of him for learning to add the LEDs!
n February 2014, our friend asked to join our group as Ghim, and I made his costume as well! His axe was a joint effort between my boyfriend and I.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I could not get a straight wig in Ash Blonde in time from Arda, so I purchased the Luthien and straightened it with a flat iron. I also trimmed the bangs a bit, and then styled them the day of the con.
