About this Costume
Construction Details:
I'M COVERED IN FUUUURRR! There's really not a ton of fur in this costume, but for some reason I felt like it was pervasive throughout the sewing process.

This is the first costume I've made where I used no preexisting patterns at all. I either drafted pieces from scratch (the boot covers, leg things, arm things, outer shorts pattern) or modified/cut apart an existing piece of clothing--I used an old pair of jeans as the start of the under-shorts pattern, and I covered an old bra for the top. I love how it turned out, although my hopes that this would be a summer cosplay were defeated by fur and upholstery fabric. Alas! Alack!

I also dyed fabric for the first time for this -- the green stuff that makes up the bulk of the bra ended up being too light, so I had a RIT party and turned my fingers all manner of weird colors.

The ears and tail are all sorts of fun -- I was worried I wouldn't be able to hear much with my ears sandwiched between layers of fur, but I didn't have any trouble at all. I even managed to drive while wearing the tail!

Next up: two swords and a pouch so I don't have to carry my cell phone and car keys in my boot.
Personal Thoughts:
From the webcomic Fey Winds, which everyone should read because it's aaaawesome! I love this character, and she has such fun costumes!

Dark Copper Red

Styling Notes
I'm counting ear attachment as part of the styling time. I made a cross-over part in the back since it's not actually a pigtail wig, put the hair in ponytails, and then took a razor to them to shorten them. I think I used 5 razors. Whooooo!
