I want to improve a few things on this costume before I wear it again. The white bodice is made of stretch sateen. I modified a corset pattern to get the shape I wanted. The skirt was a box-pleated skirt I made, cut (the diagonal is not as drastic as I had hoped, but I wanted to make sure my entire butt remained covered by the skirt!), and attached bias tape to it. I used stretch dancewear fabric for the legging pieces, but next time I'm going to get some white opaque socks to modify as these kept falling down my legs. The arm pieces are also stretch dancewear fabric, but those stayed on my arms just fine. The gold bias tape was dyed with RIT dye. I sewed on buttons and made button holes for the bodice, and also stuck a few snaps on it to make sure it stays closed in other areas. The frills are leftover ribbon my Homura had already ruffled. I ruffled them some more and handsewed them to the bodice. The bootcovers are just some cotton fabric I put around the boot. I'm going to have completely new boots for Otakon. And the chest armor piece was a bra I attached craft foam to and painted with resin to harden it. Then I gave it several coats of metallic blue paint and glued on some piping I had also dyed golden yellow. I plan on making the sword soon and fixing up pieces of this. It was rushed in a week, so I would like to improve it!
Update: I did get new socks from Sock Dreams and got my own blue belts to wear over the socks! I also got new boots and painted them. I also have a sword now. - Personal Thoughts:
- Sayaka is such an important character to me. She's my favorite of the five (though the other four are also dear to me!), and her struggle made me really emotional. I also love capes and swords, sooo~
