My blue dress is a retired Simplicity mermaid dress pattern, that was fitted to me (without much success, I’m still learning how to do that), and heavily modified. To get the angle on the hem I hung it from my friend Rii-Chan’s dress form, put pins where I thought I should cut it, and hacked away. That was nerve wracking, and much to my surprise, it came out okay. XD
The bodice of the turquoise top is a modified Vogue pattern, and the skirt of it is a circle skirt, modified in the same way as the blue dress with my friend Rii’s help.
The armbands are vinyl strips sewn together with craft foam in the center. I’ll be remaking these, due to issues I ran in towards the end of the day. (Vinyl against bare skin for 10+ hours = blisters). The arm drapeys are just circles held up by elastic. The necklace/choker is vinyl tubing spray painted gold, and the ornament is made from sculpey. The belt consist of strips of vinyl with thick cording inside to give it volume. The tiara is made from floral wire and craft foam, sealed with modge podge and spray painted. The bangles were purchased.
My Harp of Ages is made of a styrofoam ring backed with cardboard that I found at Garden Rdge. I cut it down to the basic shape with a stryrofoam cutter. I covered it in paperclay, sanded it, more paperclay and sanding, lather, rinse, repeat. The three prongs on top are made of Sculpey. All the gems were cast in resin since I couldn’t find anything that resembled them, and attached with E6000. The green gem on top is simply embedded in the paperclay.
