About this Costume

Dress: The bodice and top skirt are peachskin, which was lovely to work with. The underskirt is casa satin (it was going to be peachskin too, but my JoAnn's suddenly changed the type they carried and the colors didn't match! :P) Both skirts are hemmed with a scallop embroidery stitch, which was something I wanted to do for my old dress but couldn't because my old sewing machine was kinda dying and could hardly sew a straight stitch properly :P
Bodice trim: The circles were made the same way as the gold ones from my old dress. I cut circles from thick interfacing and sewed half of them to the top of the bodice as a base. Then I glued cord to the other half of the circles, and used more glue to seal everything. After it all dried, the corded circles were then glued to the base circles (lots of glue :P). Under the circles are a row of pearls, two rows of pearl braid, a row of lace, and another row of pearls! The pearl braid and lace are both salvaged from my old dress, which kinda made me happy ^^
Back bow: The bow is made of pearly white stretch taffeta I had leftover from make making the back bow from my Super Sailor Moon costume. The tails are tacked down in spots to get a flowy effect.
Sleeves: The sleeves are the ones I wore with my old dress, with the addition of sheer ruffle trim to create a sort of rosette shape. I probably will remake the sleeves again sometime, as these are a bit too puffy with the added trim!
Jewelry: The pearl barrettes, earrings, ring, pearl necklace and rose clip are the same ones from my old costume. I made a new bracelet with gold and pearl spacers and tiny seed pearls and also a necklace with a tear-drop pendant like the one she wears in some of the artbook pictures. I also found a much nicer Ginzuishou! My forehead moon is a plastic cabochon, and is attached with fashion tape (no spirit gum around this dress!!:P).
Tiara: I made the tiara by gluing plastic crystals to a plain white headband. The accent in the center was a pendant that I painted with pearl paint and modified. I also attached pearls to the headband, partly because they looked pretty and partly because they helped camouflage the glue ^^;;;;
Shoes: The same as the ones I wore with my first Serenity dress, champagne low-heels with embroidery and beads:) - Personal Thoughts:
- I'm so happy that this is finally finished! My old Serenity dress had to be retired after wearing it only 3 times because the skirts were badly stained in a spirit-gum related mess (I was really upset because I was so happy with it at the time ;__;). Originally I was going to just remake my old dress (the anime version), but I kept comparing my new dress to my old dress negatively, so I switched to the manga so it would be completely different. I'm really glad I did, because, to be honest, I like the manga version much more ^-^ I'm overall SUPER happy with this costume, though I still need to make her fancy cape from the artbooks (to go with the tiara)!
