About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I drafted this from scratch using several reference pictures. It took about three drafts before I got the proportions right.rnrnI hand stitched all the details on it. The white fabric has some slub yarns for added texture and I really liked that. I didn't want to do a smooth white coat as I thought it might look cheap. rnrnIf I redo this costume I think I would rather using a bonding material that I discovered when making Perona to add all the details to the coat. I also would stay away from faux leather bias tape as this caused ALOT of problems while stitching. Also I think I'd like to rethink how I made the arm bands. It was difficult to pose dynamically because they limited my movement. rnrnOverall I am pleased with the finished costume but, I would like to remake this costume knowing what I know now.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I had a good friend who wanted to cosplay together and nothing that was on my to-do list peaked his interest. He asked me to watch SAO and get back to him. He already knew. rnrnAs a long time player of WoW (vanilla anyone?) this anime was a good ride. I really, really LOVE this show. I'm so glad it was introduced to me. I love Asuna, she's both beautiful and strong, and a badass fighter to boot. I love that! As soon as I saw her fight, I knew she was the character I had to cosplay.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I used the hot water method to straighten the wig and used my limited skills to try to give it bangs. I will probably attempt to restyle or harvest for wefts and do it again.
