About this Costume
Construction Details:
The whole thing is basically made of country classic cotton (the main blue parts and pink cape/skirt), thick interfacing (for shaping the hat, gauntlets, the shoulder things, the belt and later her shoes), thin interfacing (for the decorations on the front and back) and lots and lots of pink bias tape and fabric glue. Strangely enough, this cosplay didn't require any measuring for me; I just put the parts on top of each other, drew out the patterns on the fabric (which is what I normally do anyway) and cut and sewed. Since most of the parts are oddly shaped and put together, I hardly used the sewing machine for it; everything was either hand-sewn or glued with fabric glue besides the main body part. The body is a bodice that zips up in the front, and all the other decorations are added on to it. It got too heavy to be strapless, so I took some invisible straps and put them on. The hat - I just winged it and it worked out somehow XD I'm not really gonna go into the details on how the costume is made because it's too many steps but I did include a integrated pic of a bunch of progress pics I took. The little gem things are made of clay and this glass thing and her rod is made of a dowel stick and clay. I didn't get around to finishing the shoes so I went with wearing my Roy (Fire Emblem) shoes, but I recently finished them so I will have them for the next time I wear it! Probably the most complicated and non-clothes-looking cosplay I've made (close to my first cosplay I made - Super Haruhi) and I'm glad to be done with it! It really helped to have the figure to look at since you can look at it from any angle you need! :)
Personal Thoughts:
My dream cosplay since May of last year when my boyfriend opened the Dark Magical Girl figure I bought for him at MTAC for his birthday! When I first saw that figure outside of the box, I realized how cute and adorable it was and how easy it'd be to cosplay it. Ahahaha. How wrong I was. I'm not even sure how I thought it was gonna be easy, I mean look at that hat! So I had to think and think and think and figure it out as the time passed by until I only essentially had a week and half to make it and my boyfriend's Tea cosplay. OMG!
