Construction Details:

The main costume itself was made with duchess satin (dark red), taffeta (brighter red, black lines and trim), and chiffon (sleeves). Additionally, I used red glue-on gems on the sleeves, feather trim for the neck/shoulders and cuffs, and Sculpey wrapped in taffeta for the horns. It took me about a month from receiving materials to finishing the last stitches the Saturday of Fanime.

Personal Thoughts:

Wow, this costume caused me a lot of headaches. This was my first time altering a commercial pattern for a costume (neckline, sleeves, general construction) and it seemed there were two new problems for every issue I 'fixed'. But I love the costume, in spite of the hassle. This was my second fully-made costume, so I'm especially proud of how well it turned out, even if I was literally finishing it up in the hotel room the day of craftsmanship judging!

A special thank you to my boyfriend for not only his support, but his help with both acquiring the materials and with setting the eyelets on the back of the costume.

Styling Notes

Not a lot of styling for Maou-sama, just cut some bangs in and added some framing layers.

Wig Review

Beautiful wig, but it tended to get a bit tangled as I wore it. If I can't salvage it prior to AX, I may have to switch it for a different version. Doesn't take away the awesomeness that is the wig.
