About this Costume
Construction Details:
Took approximately two weeks to complete. Everything was patterned by me.

Hat - Foam board brim, hand sewn almost entirely together with a craft foam skull super glued to the front.

Capelet - Fusible interfacing in the collar, zips up the back.

Cape - Contains part of a hoop skirt between the cape and lining to keep it open and give it shape. The symbols painted on the lining are accurate to the show and spell out 'デジタルモンスター’ (Digital Monster).

Vest - Lined with red lining with a layer of interfacing fused between, the back is accurate to character references though it's blocked by the cape.

Body suit - The entirety of the suit apart from the sleeves is fused with interfacing to maintain its shape. The paneling of orange was difficult to gauge because Wizardmon's legs are twice as long as a normal person's, but was done by making the entire bodysuit in the pale fabric and then cutting out where the orange pieces would be and using those as a pattern. The zippers were added in after the interfacing to give them the correct support. There are four zippers - the main one down the front, one on each leg, and one on the left hip - 3 of which were painted grey and all of which are fully functional.

Gloves - The only part not made by me, they were originally green costume gloves that I painted brown, but the material stuck to the sewing machine and wouldn't sew, so I had to hand stitch the entire hem of both gloves, along with hand stitch both (fully functional) zippers into the palms of each glove.

Boots - The first successful boot covers I've ever made, with the tops being filled with craft foam to give them their proper shape. I'm very proud of how they came out!

I'm EXTREMELY pleased with the end result of this cosplay, and there's very little that I'm not pleased with/would need to change or improve in the future.
Personal Thoughts:
Whereas most of my friends found their beginnings in Pokemon, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, for me, Digimon is what started it all. It's undeniable that in the original series, Wizardmon is a heroic and ultimately tragic character, and I felt that it was about time to pay tribute to my roots and really do this character justice.

I'm extremely proud of Wizardmon, being the first cosplay that I constructed entirely from hat to boot covers (apart from the gloves, though those were altered). It was a great learning experience for making things like props and hats and boot covers, and bumped up my hand sewing experience considerably! I found challenge not necessarily in the details, but in the sheer amount of pieces needed to assemble this costume.
