Construction Details:

I never quite found the fabrics I wanted. I used the only passable blue plaid in Joann for the pleated skirt--four yards of it. The pleats are so thin and my hips are so big that I had to fold under twice as much fabric as you see so that the pleats wouldn't come apart/fall flat every time I moved. It was quite an adventure, going to Joann and coming back multiple times only to realise, "OOPS, IT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH FABRIC," and having to go back the next day. When I finally had all the fabric I needed it only took me about two hours to make.

The shirt I made out of a bottomweight that doesn't breathe because I was rushing and mistook it for something else. What an awful idea for an AX costume. I patterned it from scratch and tacked on the custom sleeve pattern I made for myself that I use for basically everything. I wish I made the arms a little longer, but other than that I'm pleased with it. The sailor collar (made out of some miscellaneous blue fabric, probably cotton or linen, I found around the store) attaches to the modesty patch (is that what it's called?) with two hooks and eyes, and then pinned on to the shirt. The bow is made out of a pink casa satin and attaches with a snap. The patches were iron-on transfers because I ran out of time to heat-and-bond and appliqué them.

I never found the right shoes (brown Mary Jane wedges) or even ones that were a good shape I could paint, so I just wore my black Mary Jane wedges that I already owned because I would rather not spend money and effort on inaccurate shoes in an accurate color if I already have accurate shoes in an inaccurate color. I'll keep looking for good shoes. Thigh highs are my Rise socks.

Personal Thoughts:

This is possibly the best seifuku I have made yet, and I worked stupidly hard on it for what it is. Being Sayaka was a lot of fun!! I didn't get to shoot with my group because since my phone was stolen literally half an hour after arriving to the con, I couldn't get in touch with them, but we live close. We'll do it soon! Also I love how I appropriated pieces of four different idol costumes to be a SHSL Idol.

Styling Notes

This is just my Chihaya wig with the bangs flipped over because I didn\\\'t have enough money at the time. I didn\\\'t do anything in the way of cutting it because I need it for Chihaya. If I come into some money I may get a more color-accurate wig and cut the pieces in the front, but I just applied my Rin clips.
