Construction Details:

Lots of materials in this monster: various armor pieces are a combination of leather, craft foam, a zillion grommets, pleather, and lots of painting/weathering. The spikes on the gauntlets and tsuneate (shinguards) were sentra plastic. I am especially proud of the chest plate piece, which was my personal baby.

Thanks to being a massive perfectionist and wanted the perfect 'sayagata' pattern, the white of the outside of vest is imported from Japan, while the lining is a different zig-zagged pattern. The purple on the collars and lapels were stenciled/hand painted by Balni. The pants were custom-ordered from Spoonflower printed with a pattern I put together in photoshop. The designs on the back of the jacket and pleats were designed by me in Photoshop, ironed onto fabric and satin-stitched around the edges to give the look of an embroidered patch.

Gloves and waist armor were largely done by Balni.
Vest was the real trouble. My very good friend Jules helped to both pattern and construct it and we even went through one 90% version of it before scrapping it and redoing it in a different method to get the box-pleats of the back looking more correct. I couldn't thank her more for all the help she gave to complete this garment aaahhhhh @___@!!!

Sword was made by Einlanzer, but sadly got broken en-route to Fanime and needs some repair :(! Painting the sheath was also a group effort, THANK YOU to Siri and Tenshiryu for the help :D

There were so many little details I didn't want to miss on this costume, like the scale design/stitching on the gloves, color of the rope tying the armor pieces together (there was dyeing involved), etc. Uuuurgghhhhh... Overall very pleased with how it came out in the end!

Now kill me, leave me to die in a pool of my own cosplay!

This cosplay was the combined efforts of myself, my girlfriend, and one of my very best friends. It was almost a year's worth of AAAAARGH.
"Cosplay Mitsunari" she says, "it'll be fun" she says... This costume ended up being both my baby and my nemesis at the same time, and I'm still not done. I need to tweak a few minor things (namely the wig) for better photos and convention wear.

Styling Notes

Two Arda wigs sewn together, using a Blue Steele as the base. This was done because Mitsunari has sort of a tall head, and no part in his hair, so I wanted to try this to get the desired effect.

Wig Review

Wig was my main disappointment in the end, it was wefted and styled kinda hastily so I intend to fix it up for later.
