About this Costume
Construction Details:
I used a lot of inspiration and advice from various tutorials and other cosplayers for this costume. First, I followed Cupcake Cosplay's sailor fuku tutorial pretty closely in the construction of the base suit, while making my own modifications. Tranquility and I drafted our own patterns for the skirt, collar, and bows. We also tried to match Kapalaka's Sailor Mars in material choice and styling so that we would match with the group. Many thanks to Tranquility, K-Chan, and Kapalaka for all their collaborative advice!

The white base fuku is made of 4-way matte stretch spandex, and the suit is double layered. I used a modification of Green Pepper's Crystal Lake Skating pattern. The hip rolls and sleeve rolls are stuffed with Poly-fil and the sleeve shoulder detail is made of sparkly organza. This suit is meant to be modular. The skirt snaps on at the waist, and the collar and bows have snap attachments also.

The skirt is made of dark purple bridal satin. It started off as two full circle skirts, which were then pleated using a combination of two box pleats in the front, knife pleats along the sides, and ending with an inverted box pleat in back. We chose to have a pleat line down the middle of the front of the skirt because that's how we interpreted the skirt's design. My skirt is hemmed using a short rolled hem. As mentioned before, there are snap attachments on the inside of the skirt to attach it to the bodysuit base.

The collar was made of the same purple satin as the skirt, using white bias tape in 1/2" for the trim. The glove rolls were made by cutting out appropriately sized rectangles on the fabric bias, stitching them together, then adding the spacing for the three rolls using a thin zigzag stitch. The rolls were stuffed with Poly-fil and sewn together at the ends. The front and back bows were made from dark raspberry colored satin. They are all basically rectangles with thick interfacing ironed onto the inner back sides. I decided to go with a slightly shinier material for the bows, because I liked how it looked against the more matte materials for the skirt and bodysuit.

Tranquility made my tiara using Kapalaka's tiara tutorial and pattern, and we found some star shaped buttons and painted them the same gold as the tiaras. The heart brooch was commissioned from WindoftheStars on Etsy and are solid colored resin with a pin back. My boots were originally 2-inch heel knee high boots with a folded over cuff, found on Ebay. I cut off the cuffs and modified them, painted the boots using Angelus leather paint, and added the white lacing.

Personal Thoughts:
I made this costume to be a part of Kapalaka's Super Sailor Moon group. Sailor Saturn is one of my favorites, and I was so excited to start working on my first sailor fuku! The Super Sailor variant is my favorite. I plan to make Saturn's Silence Glaive in the future and fix up a few details on this costume.

This group was made up of Kapalaka as Mars, HoodedWoman as Jupiter, Exilefayt as Mercury, VertigoVendetta as Venus, Alouette as Uranus, K-chan as Neptune, and Tranquility as Pluto.

Styling Notes
I used a Katinka in Black for this costume. I added a pack of short wefts in Dark Purple all over the wig. The wig was styled to be very bluntly cut and voluminous at the ends.
