Babble:
The things I did for this costume defy belief sometimes. I drew out the entire design on his shirt by hand from a reference picture about two by two inches, I then transferred that to heat n' bond, and then applied gold metallic leaf over that. (Anyone else trying that trick, use the HEAVY DUTY Heat 'n Bond, it holds much much better.)
The shirt itself is a stretch satin that is part cotton, so it is delightfully soft.
Over that is the Kariginu, both the outer and inner materials were a quest to locate enough yardage because both were clearance at the time I decided on them. The robe closes with a lovely ball-and-loop closure taken straight from a Japanese site for recreating historical garb.
The pants are taffeta and make a lovely ominous swishing noise when you move.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume was originally made for Ladyofthegate, to accompany my Masaomi. She's since retired from cosplay, but there are beautiful details and things that I had never done before on this costume, and in Jan 2013, I finally got some pictures of it (with me wearing it instead).

Take one Rod in light brown, cut up another and add about half its wefts to the first to extend sideburns, back neck, and add body to the top. Then spray with white and silver hair color and hang upside down to encourage spikes.
