Construction Details:

I thought North would be an awesome challenge to construct and just adored the amount of detail of that went into his outfit.

All of the fabric, save the fur, is from Joann's (yay coupons!) The jacket is crushed red velvet with the brown fur sewed onto it. The red shirt underneath is just stretch classic knit and the pants were a gray wool blend. The pants I needed to dye a few shades of gray darker and then painted the red squares and sewing around that design in white thread. The belt, wrap part (my baby and probably most fun/annoying part) was basically quilting broadcloth and cotton blends. I cut out out a base (pink fabric) filled it with batting. I then cut out the squares and sewed the designs into each panel and proceeded to attach them to the base wrap via heat bond to hold it in place. Finally, I sewed zigzag stitching between each strip of panels (twice).

The swords were cut from wood, sanded and painted.

Personal Thoughts:

I absolutely LOVED this movie, it was just so GORGEOUS (the colors and quality of animaiton-ahhh!) The storyline was wonderful, the characters were great and just had so many different feelings! My favorite was definitely North when I first saw it, so I just had to go for the goal and tackle this project :D

(I have a few tweaks to fix up this costume and probably some preparations beforehand next time so that I can actually move my head/face around, be comfortable and not dying of heat lol)

Styling Notes

Just cut off a few inches of the actual wig. The beard is wefts sewn onto wig mesh and applied with spirit gum.
