Construction Details:

Hoarding construction notes and materials for a few years may have very well saved my ass on this costume!!

I tried to stick to a few of the build details of a few of my favorite Morrigans (Lindze and Mrs.Hyde).
I used a 2-way stretch pleather vinyl for the bodysuit with an out-of-print Kwik Sew pattern with a thong back. (BRAVERY LOL. My friend Kitty helped/taught me to make a heavy duty underbust corset to not only give me shape, but to give something to mount the wings on.
The heart was cut out of the corset as well as the bodysuit. I put a zipper in the side of the bodysuit to get in and out of it and a multiway Bombshell bra was glued and handsewn in for that boobage (cutlets were in there too).

Tights and gloves are from welovecolors.com and I had brave friends spend a few hours painting bats on my ass.

Boots were from eBay and were originally knee high and grey. So I cut them into the shape I wanted and gave them a nice coat of matte black floral spray paint.

Feather trim is from eBay. 6$ for 2yds?! STEAL! :D

The WINGS. OH GOD THESE WINGS. WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THESE GODDAMN WINGS?!
First off, they have a 1/2" PVC tubing frame which I cut down into 3 pieces. The top "bone" is all one piece and the two inner "bones" are two individual pieces. I heat formed them with a heatgun into the shape I wanted and then joined the pieces at the joint (under the white claw) with Apoxie Sculpt. Then I covered them in Saran Wrap and duct tape to create a pattern which was made up of two pieces sewn together like a pillowcase. The sack was then handsewn down around each "bone" and then airbrushed with a super pretty iridescent purple. The spikes and top claw are all made out of Sculpey Lite, painted, and E6000'd on. Both wings are around 2.5 to 3#'s a piece and slide into pockets that were sewn into the back of the corset. Each wing was able to swing front to back so I could fold them in for walking through crowded hallways and then let them go for photos.


Headwings gave me NO END of trouble. I pretty much used the same method as the large wings, only I used heavy wire as a frame. I wanted it to look as if they were coming out of my head instead of a headband, so I hid the headband under the wig and thought screwing the wings on would have been the best course of action. I embedded a blind bolt into an Apoxie Sculpt base on then end of each wing and tacked the screw onto the headband with Apoxie sculpt as well.
I was under the impression that Apoxie Sculpt adhered to pretty much EVERYTHING.

IT DIDN'T.

Each screw snapped off and I had to E6000 them both down. It worked on one wing but the other wing not so much. The screw ended up becoming dislodged under the Apoxie Sculpt and was just spinning, unanchored, which caused the wing to only be partially screwed on...which then ended up catching wig fiber in the screw channels and getting it stuck.

I decided to hot glue the wing in place, but needed another person to do it for me, as it was on my head and unreachable. Poor, poor, Olivia volunteered to help...she ended up gluing the wing in place a bit, but her finger was sacrificed to the Cosplay Gods. She burned the absolute SHIT out of her finger and ended up passing out as a result. D: BUT in the end, she soldiered through, got dressed and joined us as B.B.Hood and acted as Batlady Handler for both me and Kalie.

Personal Thoughts:

This is one of those costumes that required more than one person to construct and I am insanely lucky to have a bevy of beautiful and talented friends to help me out.
This one has been a long time coming in not only the years of hoarding materials, but the gain in courage I needed to try my hand at a cosplay that is pretty hard to execute effectively.

*To Kitty who helped/taught me how to pattern the underbust corset and who also helped me fit my bodysuit around it and then glue my boobs in place! XD

*To Hydra/Liz and Kalie who gave me pointers on the wings, since those suckers confused the SHIT out of me with all my overthinking it!

*To Annie who allowed me to break in her brand new airbrush gun and steal her serger.

*To Monroe who knows his way around photoshop (I DON'T LOL)
and took the time to make vector art for my bat stencils.

*To Meevers, Olivia, and Kaylin, who helped paint bats on my ass for TWO sets of tights. No one should ever be that close to my goodies, but they took it in good humor.

*To my amazeballs husband who is always patiently annoyed with my messy and silly hobby and didn't complain too much when I forgot to open a window when I was heat forming PVC. Oh, and for the compliments on my wings as I was making them, which is always an amazing boost in morale.

*And finally to Kaylin and Olivia for strapping me into the whole goddamn thing a few times for fitting and final wear.
I would not have been able to do ANY of this without you guys. I know I was a total pain in the ass, constantly begging for help, but you all took it in stride and were enthusiastic about it and didn't abandon me when I got frustrated, crazy, and upset with all the trouble it gave me. You have no idea how much I appreciate you for that.

Styling Notes

This wig just needed a little straightening and cutting. I cleaned up the ends and cut the bangs down and gave them a bit more shape.

Wig Review

I LOVE the color blend on this wig. It's got a little bit of blue mixed in which makes it a nicer green.
The only complaint I have is that the front wefting is SUPER heavy compared to the back. I could barely tuck the front behind my ears, which is part of Morrigan's style. A LOT of fiber!!
