About this Costume
Construction Details:
Started/Planned: Winter 2012
Completed: March 2013

Worn at: Anime Matsuri 2013

Parts Made: Everthing but the shoes

New Skills: Lots of hand hemming with bias tape, lots of pattern drafting, and putting batting in kimono neckbands.

Awarded: Best in Show Anime Matsuri 2013 (Skit with Pas as Nozomi)

Babble:
I was never happy with Benkei back in '07 and always planned to overhaul him, but it took six years to kick into gear and do it. He actually fits me better after those six years and thirty pounds, which makes it all feel a bit like destiny.
Benkei 2.0 comes standard with the following improvements:
-New obi with duck cloth interlining instead of batting, stronger ties, and new obi-jime cords.
- Proper kimono ties for every layer so no safety pins are needed.
- New stretch tabi to cover my ankles and calves completely even when the pants move.
- New collar cover with hand painted detail and new black cords that hang properly for the yellow-green layer (I used the bronze version of Masaomi's buttons to hang from because they're so lovely).
- Completely new cloak with a better hood, smaller, more detailed applique, and better cord fastenings. Pants remade with better finished hems, better ties at the top, and better ankle drawstrings. This actually fits me better at my new weight than the old one did back in the day.
- Remastered, repainted staff, with new blade to better match the canon silhouette.
Personal Thoughts:
It's been five years, time to remake basically everything on Benkei for the second or third time! The lovely Pas decided to make Nozomi, so of course I needed a Hachiyou to go with her and went right back to my favorite Chi no Suzaku.

Wig Review
The length and wave on the Carmen is beautiful, but it really needs frequent brushing and attention, even when pulled back. The wig cap on this wig is exceptionally large (at least on mine), it easily accomodated my very long hair tucked up under it, and had to be tightened when I had shorter hair.
