About this Costume
Construction Details:
Although this cosplay is simple, I probably spent between $250-$300. The most expensive item was the fold quartz earring. It is the official version that was sold in Japan at the Macross Frontier live concert(s) and is now out of print. I had to use a deputy service to get it (I actually bought two and I love to wear them outside of this cosplay. In fact, I made it a tradition to wear them when I attend concerts). I ordered mint cotton interlock fabric for the blouse and cut up a dark turqoise t-shirt for the trim and headband. The shorts were made from a t-shirt, as well as the over-the-knee socks (which didn't come out as well as I'd hoped). I made the heart necklace out of sculpey and the bangles were plain wooden ones I found and painted orange. Sunglasses were purchased at Ross (or similar store) and I painted the edges gold. Wig was purchased off e-bay.
Personal Thoughts:
I chose to cosplay Sheryl Nome because I love singing and she's a confident, sexy, cute songstress. I was attracted to this outfit because I love Gyaru fashion and this is something I could see a Gyaru wearing. Also, it's one of those 2-in-1 outfits that you can wear for cosplay but also for everyday-life.

Aside from the earring, my favorite aspect of this costume is the wig because I feel that it accurately mimics Sheryl's hair. There's something about the way that it's colored that allows it to look peachy-pink/blonde in the light but completely pink in less light.
