About this Costume
Construction Details:
This is probably my third or fourth attempt at the costume. My first being a Halloween costume many years ago when my skills weren't very good. I made a second attempt and still wasn't happy (due to fabric quality.). Then I made one for Fanexpo 2011 to go along with Rankin24 as Kimber. I felt that one was a little rushed and again with the metallic fabric that wasn't the greatest quality. So here I am with this one. I can safely say I am happy with this one and I won't remake it again(If I decide to make another attempt at this dress it will be made in hot pink stretch PVC.) lol. Along the way I decided to make 2 variants of this dress. I have one that is light pink like the show, and one that is more fuchsia/hot pink like the artwork. I also made several of her other outfits from the show. Hopefully I will get a chance to get photo's of them soon.

Down to construction:
The pink knit I used was a hologram knit and I only paid $6 for the entire yard of it. Yes, I made this dress with a little less than a yard of fabric.
The belt is silver PVC. The tassels are silver sequin string I found and bought half a yard of. They are literally perfect for something 80's that needs sparkles.
The blue design is made of blue glitter vinyl. The vinyl actually has glitter inside. It's just top stitched onto the upper layer of the belt. It laces up in the back.
The shoes were originally a nude pair of pumps. I mixed about 4 different shades of pink together as well as 2 different types of sparkles and covered the shoes. They match my dress pretty spot on.
The nylons I got at Forever21. They are white fishnets with silver tinsel weaved through them.
The mic I got at a Halloween store and covered it with pink craft foam to create the right look of Jem's mic.
The earrings are sculpy clay in hot pink. I covered them in fuchsia sparkles.

Personal Thoughts:
Who doesn't know Jem and the Holograms? They were huge in the 80s and still to this day have a cult following.
This has been a dream costume of mine since I was about 3 :P

Styling Notes
This started off as a straight all one length wig. I added 3 tiers of layers into it and changed the upper part in the hair. I added a bit of volume to the crown of the wig. I fluffed the bangs out. I didn't want to over do it with the volume. I wanted a more natural look.
Wig Review
The wig is like silk. The wig itself is very heavy. Great quality! I would buy from them again for sure!
