About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I made Chizuru's very specific kimono prints by lasercutting stencils and then using floral spray on base fabrics. I used a store-bought pattern (Simplicity 4080) this time for the kimono and was happy to see that I wasn't far off at all from making a "real" kimono than I was with Yuzuruha. The obi I just faked by making a pre-tied bow and the easy base band instead of the full loooooooong obi. The hair accessories were sculpted out of epoxy sculpt and spray-painted. The obi medallions I drew up in AutoCAD then embroidered.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I made this costume in 3 days with little to no sleep because I juggle grad school along with cosplay. Fortunately it was done enough in time for MegaCon 2013. I plan on adding more applique and gold detailing to make it more accurate to the artbook version, but for now it counts as the "anime version."

- Styling Notes
- Lots of teasing, hair spray, and I made the bow out of heavy cardstock, hot glue, and three packs of black loose braiding hair.
- Wig Review
- The new Le Tigre's are thin in the back but it didn't matter for this costume since I was covering most of the back with a big geisha bow.
