About this Costume
Construction Details:
The top is the same (although I would like to redo it in the future) but I added a lot of hand beading to the top in order to match the bottom. The bottom was made with a holographic spandex in order to give it a scaly look and I matched the fabrics as close to the film as possible. I kept in mind the tone of the materials when it came to matching up the fin parts. The top and bottom are actually two materials on top of each other to give it the desired color I was looking for.

A new sewing machine and some much improved sewing skills brought it to live. Some of the design choices were made during construction and my boyfriend was a world of help in this. I wanted it to look like a tail and not a dress, walking tails are super difficult to make one way or the other and I think we pulled it off. To finish it I hand beaded it in various areas to give it a more magical princess feel. With the beading it looks like it had a lot more dimension than simply just being a tail without details.
Personal Thoughts:
This is an updated/remade costume, you can still see the old one in my costume album. Ariel is my favorite princess and I am lucky enough to work for a party company (Hero 4 Hire) that allows me to be her at shows for kids. My previous one was getting worn out and sort of difficult to maneuver in during parties.
