About this Costume
Construction Details:
The red lines on the bodysuit were painted by Star-tan. I bought the bodysuit from her without the teal parts. I used patent vinyl because I couldn't find any stretch vinyl in the color I wanted. Then again, I didn't look very hard, and I think I would have saved myself a lot of stress had I found stretch fabric to go on the stretch fabric, haha. I'm proudest of the color as that was sewed on and looks fantastic. The shoulder and leg pieces aren't so great as they're attached via hot glue and liquid stitch, neither of which are so happy to work with vinyl.
Personal Thoughts:
I watched the first five episodes of Gurren Lagann in high school and ended up dropping it because I lost interest. I didn't really like Kamina, Simon was kind of cute, and Yoko just seemed like a girl with big boobs who was there for fanservice. A close friend persuaded me to give it a second chance, so I watched a few more episodes and I was hooked once Nia was introduced! I came to love the rest of the cast as well, but Nia was what kept me going with the show. This outfit (other than her pink sweatshirt, WHICH IS SO CUTE) is my favorite. Nia melted my heart and then broke it. I adore her.

Styling Notes
The wig is so pretty as is! All I did was trim up some side bits and trim the bangs and thin them out. I think there could be more volume to the wig, and some blue strands better placed, so I plan on buying a second Nia wig to sew into this one.
