Construction Details:

Babydoll took me about 25 hours to complete over a period of several months. I didn't have anywhere specific to wear her to at the time, I just thought she'd be some kind of Halloween costume.

She's made out of a medium weight dark wash jeans fabric. The white sailor stripes are made out of a light weight white jeans fabric with a silver finish bias tape. I had to the bias by hand...my fingers will never be the same. I didn't have to use a wig but, I did add some extensions into my pony tails to get a bit more length.

I drafted the patterns myself so unfortunately I have no pattern numbers for those looking to alter. I made a muslin sample first, and when I was finally satisfied I completed it out of the jeans material.

Babydoll was actually relatively easy to complete, no special techniques were used to complete her.

Personal Thoughts:

Babydoll was the first, so I'll always love her. Looking back I think she could have been so much more if I had had the money to sink into her props. She taught me the importance of quality materials and good proportion as well as gave me the nudge I needed to get into prop making. I've retired her now after a year on the circuit, but perhaps in the future after I cross some others of the list I'll bring her back out, fix her up and give her some props. I can't believe the response I received at the cons, especially Anime Expo. I didn't know mobs existed like that, and especially not for me!
