Where to begin...this costume has a TON of separate pieces.
The head-hat-helmet-crown thingy is craft foam with layers of mod podge and gesso, I painted the gem with nail polish. The cape is a wool blanket pinned to part of an IKEA rug, and is therefore super warm. (Like, uncomfortably warm inside the convention center.)
I made the undershirt out of a stretchy fabric, and the top is vinyl that I layered over a "corset." I've never made a corset before, and figured this would be good practice since I was just trying to get the top to keep its shape and not actually cinch my waist, but I think I didn't use enough boning/didn't attach the vinyl outer layer securely enough, because it still wrinkled.
The shoes were quite fun, I started with a plain red wedge heel which gave me about 6 inches of height, which was AWESOME. (Best. Day. Ever.)
I also made the sword! Out of particle board and craft foam. - Personal Thoughts:
- I really love Valerio Schiti's artwork and designs on this book, so I couldn't resist making this costume! Also, Sif is a total BAMF. I made this mostly over winter break, and wore it at Katsucon.
