Construction Details:

I made a simple shirt and gathered skirt that I ended up wearing over a white dress base from another costume.

My friend Britt helped me make last minute wings from a hanger and posterboard (because wings are more her territory than mine).

Randomly add roses everywhere, stack on 2 green wigs, sit like a blob, and you've got a Gertrud. ^^; I meant to make some small red present boxes to hand out but I ran out of time at the last minute. I should've gone and stole some of the Anthony minions that were sitting at the reg desk.

Personal Thoughts:

The ugliest print on rose lace fabric ever...PERFECT!

I'll have to add a veil to the front and pull the hair forward so that it looks recognizable from the front -and- back. in the future.

Styling Notes

I actually stacked a dark green wig on top of another bright green wig I had. It looked like I gained 2" of height but it wasn't apparent in photos, it seemed. And at least wearing the 2 wigs looked rather seamless. I will consider wefting the 2 together in the future.

Wig Review

I tried to make the wig a little more curly at the last minute, but it flopped, so I'll have to go back and try again.

The wigs tangle really easily and started to look messy again despite having spent a good hour detangling and brushing it all out. My friend commented that it added to Gertrud's look, though.
