About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The boots are bootcovers that are interfaced at the top to keep the points stiff, which was also done with the gusseted gloves. The shorts are lined in black spandex which the yellow is doubled over and sandwiched between, the bra is a bra top with pieces interfaced and hand sewn over it. The green bra straps are satin elastic as is the stomach piece, which I had to custom dye with an acid dye in order to achieve the proper color (it started off as a light pale yellow). The fuku is interfaced with cotton. The center pieces on the bra were made by myself. The Gold headbands were made by myself and Jenni, and the ear pieces were a collaborative effort between all three of us!!
- Personal Thoughts:
- I wanted to cosplay Star Healer back when I first got into Sailor Moon like 13 years ago, before I knew cosplaying was something that was a thing you could do. Sailor Moon was my introduction into anime, and it's so close to my heart. I'd never been able to even think about doing this costume before because I either didn't feel confident enough in my body, confident in my skills, or had a group to do it with. But now... it's a dream come true. I couldn't be happier with my fellow Starlights, couldn't be happier with our Princess Kakyuu. I cannot wait to cosplay more of Yaten.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I trimmed down the bangs a bit to frame my face. I bought a ponytail extension in the same color, cut it apart to use about half the wefts and wrapped them in jersey to create the band on the ponytail. Then I sewed that into the base of the wig between some wefts.
