About this Costume
- Personal Thoughts:
- Jonathan got a big ol' man crush on Thor, and so we just needed to do this cosplay for the midnight release of The Avengers!
We were able to wear these to the midnight release in Hollywood at The El Capitan Theater... Jonathan won 2nd place in the costume competition! And we were also featured on the theaters website and the Marvel website... fun times!!
Here's my costume breakdown:
I had bought the black boots at Walmart off the clearance rack a couple of years ago and had them sitting in my pile of "things I might use for a cosplay someday". I just added some EVA foam to them and spray painted the details on and voila! I got the leggings (also off a clearance rack) at Forever 21. The silver under tunic I got off a clearance rack (see a pattern? haha) in the Fabric District in LA.. I think it was a Forever 21 factory reject.
The skirt, bodice and arm cloth I got at the Fabric District in LA. My mum made the skirt and bodice since we were running out of time (we were busy working on the EVA foam and details for Jon's Thor), and Jon and I added the foam details. We used liquid cement on the foam and shaped it with a heat gun.. then we plasti-dipped the foam and spray painted it.
The shield and arm details were also made of foam, and we used Jon's old Prince Caspian sword for the photos. I also used a clip on pony tail to lengthen my hair.
We took the photos in Kettleman Hills, California (same place we took the Trigun photos!) and our friend Sky helped with the cameras. ^_^
I think they turned out great, and I am super happy to be playing a warrior chick this time!! ^_^
