No more scallops, please.
The capelet opens in the back, as in the artwork there's no way for it to open IN THE FRONT LIKE IT SHOULD-- so there's some closures there. Again thanks to dumb design, I just tie the cravat around my neck, and below that is the corset. I did the seams and all just as they appear in the artwork, which also means it was put together in a pretty strange way which I couldn't begin to describe. Many panels, topstitching for the boning casing, and it ties up in the back.
Both skirts are just gathered with scalloped edges, the scallops of the blue layer are exactly the reverse of the brown layer, and I have about 150 template pieces as each scallop is a different size. - Personal Thoughts:
- So I saw this thing and went 'what in the hell, this design makes no sense, how would you even put it on, it's super impractical and just silly...I've gotta make it'. I don't even know where to start on the construction details, it was just...find a way to make it look like the picture, but actually something you can wear. And it's a huge pain to wear, as expected.
NOTHING ABOUT IT MAKES SENSE WHO CAME UP WITH THIS, WHY IS THERE A CRAVAT UNDER A CAPELET AND ON TOP OF A CORSET, I DON'T KNOW. Better still, why did I make it. I don't know, but (not series familiar) people told me they thought it was a nice design and I just smiled and nodded.
