About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The blouse is made from a light cotton, with all the flowers hand-painted on. The coat is a wonderful pink gabardine blend I found at a local fabric shop! It's fully lined. I took some slight artistic liberty by adding some trim to the front, but I think it really helps enhance the costume! The little bits of red & black really go well with Tashigi's hair & glasses. The fun on the collar & cuffs is heavily interfaced Minky, the same fur I used on my pre-timeskip coat! I appliquéd the "Justice" kanji onto the back of the jacket with faux suede.
The gloves were purchased online, and I added the same fur to them as a cuff. My shoes are actually repurposed! They were originally a pair of worn-out brown dress shoes I got at goodwill for a couple of bucks. I drafted a pattern in muslin, and then made boot covers out of this dark pink faux suede I got on clearance at my local fabric shop. The covers are permanently attached to the base boot. It’s not the neatest or the best work, but it’ll do! I'll be re-making her boots for the next con, since the shoes themselves finally gave out after all these years! hahaha
For her sword, Shigure, I modded a wooden bokken. The scabbard is a super thick cardboard tube with a thick fabric cover & ribbon & trim detailing (I originally sculpted the details with sculpey, but they, uh.... caught fire). Props are my weakest cosplay skill, so I'm pleased with the result, even though it's not perfect.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Tashigi is my favourite character from One Piece, and when she appeared after the 2-yr. jump, I knew I had to make her new outfit!!
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- Re-styled ponytail, split tail in half for the back loop. Trimmed the bangs down.
- Wig Review
- This wig is SUPER HEAVY. It was hard to get the ponytail right. There are a lot of flyaways I cannot tame. I need lots of pins to keep this on my head.
