About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Jacket: Heavily modified Cosmode Blazer. I folded down the front of the lapels to make the diagonal collar line that I would sew in later. I still need to fix the bunching around the waist and add in the last 2 buttons on the lapels. The blue is Dark blue twill suiting, the black and white is cotton. All the white pieces are just bias tape
Skirt: Simplicity pencil skirt pattern with the color blocked panel put in. Different blue cotton used here since it looked like there were actually 3 shades of blue in her uniform. I need to fix more waist bunching here.
Flaps: My favorite part of the costume. Rectangles were cut out and heavily interfaced. Her "Mercedes" Symbol was made in photoshop and printed on an iron on transfer. The silver parts are all cut out of vinyl and heat n' bonded to the flaps. The bias tape was then sewn on top with mitered edges
Boots: Bought in downtown LA. I plan to mess around with shoe pants in the future - Personal Thoughts:
- I fell in love with this uniform the moment I saw it. Anything crisp with lots and lots of bias tape is so up my alley.
I wanted to be really accurate but the sheer size and presentation of her "assets" provided an interesting ethical dilemma for me. I decided to go for a longer shirt and lots of push up bras.
The uniform is in 5 pieces-
The white inner collar
The blazer
The belt
The rectangular flaps
The pencil skirt
