About this Costume
Construction Details:
Oh, wow...this costume had a lot of difficulties with the construction. First of all, it was my first time ever working with neoprene, which is what I used for the skirt, the boots, the arm warmers, and the neck cone thing. Then trying to dye that neoprene to a light grey/silver stressed me out. Also, patterning out the boot covers and the arm bands was difficult, as well. The whole costume was made with the intention of being able to take it into water easily, without any harm to the material.

I was originally planning on keeping the skirt aloft with boning, but the boning that I chose was not quite strong enough for the neoprene. I couldn't order hoop boning in time, so I just used a hula hoop (if I wear this costume again, I'll probably order some hoop boning to use instead). The polka dots on the bottom of the skirt were screen printed onto swimwear spandex. The bikini top I made. The cone-neck-thing was made out of more neoprene and spandex, and filled with foam. The boots were neoprene, which I glued on top of a pair of white flip flops. The wig was originally my Luka wig, which I trimmed, and painted with acrylic paint. The squirt gun I found online (it was SO PERFECT) and painted to be the correct colors. My friend, Anijess3, then patterned and made my gun holster, which is made out of hot pink vinyl, with white vinyl circles heat n' bonded to it. The snap on that is a magnetic snap (so I can easily get the squirt gun in and out) covered by a covered button using the same hot pink vinyl. My back pack was just made out of the same blue spandex, and line with neoprene to keep it's shape. It also has a pink vinyl covered button on it.
