About this Costume

I love 40s and 50s dresses so I happily picked this design out of the Avengers gowns and was really pleased with how the ensemble turned out! I had fitting assistance from Aimee who kindly lent me her BioShock wig the first time at Anime LA because I didn't have time to finish styling mine, and the rest was pretty good but time consuming. I was able to style as hopefully close to the original art on my new wig in time for WonderCon 2013. rnrnThere's a three-layer bodice with outer satin (alternated colors with the pattern to get the striped flag look), interfacing, and inner coutil for strength and stiffness along with a combination of steel and plastic corset boning in each seam line. The back is fully grommeted corset with lacing up the back for adjustable fitting and the collar was just fitted to me and adjusted for angles with hand-sewn on purchased embroidered stars. The rest was a simple A-line skirt with purchased petticoat and a headband I picked up with a clipped on glitter-covered star. All bought pieces were from Downtown L.A.
- Personal Thoughts:
- For Spwinkles' Avengers Gowns group at ALA!

- Styling Notes
- I cut a great deal of the wig curls off and discovered to my dismay that it was really flat without them. So I spent 2 days teasing, curling, spraying, and keeping the curls (especially the bangs since there was none prior to styling, and going in the opposite direction) in curlers until the day of the photoshoot. I'm thrilled at how it turned out as close to the original artwork as possible! :D
- Wig Review
- The wig from the older photos (Anime LA 2013) was borrowed from Aimee, which was her Bio Shock wig.
