About this
- Construction Details:
-
I began by constructing the jacket with a slightly modified pattern using stretch poplin. I quickly realized that not only did the fabric wrinkle easily, but it was way too see-through. The poplin became the lining and I constructed the outer shell using the wrong side of white casa satin. It closes with snaps. The gold fabric gave me so much trouble. I wanted to use a gold spandex I had purchased, then decided not to use, for a different project, but the color wasn't quite right and it didn't look nice stitched down. I searched forever for a gold fabric with a nice color and some shine and ended up finding it at Joann's after all. All the trim was made using my bias tape machine (2 inch strips run through a 1 inch tip, then folded and run through a half inch tip). The gold detail on the sleeves and hat were created by using a wood burning tool to seal the edges, ironing on with Wonder Under, and secured by top-stitching. The black fabric on the hat and sleeves was left over from two Yasogami uniforms. There is a thick interfacing in the cuffs to keep them from flopping over. The buttons were done with a button cover kit so that all gold details would match. The hat and cape were made with a gorgeous purple suiting I found at Joann's. The hat was patterned simply by purchasing a cheap witch's hat (luckily I started the project around Halloween!) and ripping it apart to use as a pattern. I used the original brim of the hat in the final product, saving me time and interfacing! There is craft foam inside the brim of the hat to keep it sturdy; it isn't attached so I can remove it and flatten it out for travel. It doesn't quite fit my head so it attaches to the wig with bobby pins. The skirt and thigh highs are made from the wrong side of a metallic black spandex from SAS. I love metallic black spandex because it has a nice sheen while being easy to work with and wear, but I wanted the flat look its wrong side had, which is hard to find in a regular spandex in my experience. I patterned the skirt by wrapping my ass in saran wrap and cutting it down the sides to make the pattern. (THIS IS MY FAVORITE WAY TO DO THINGS!!!) I tried the same method for the boot covers but the pattern came out a little awkward since I wanted to try side seams for a cleaner look. I took some leftover knit from my Beatrice stockings and stretched it around my leg and base shoe and pinned until it fit the way I wanted it to, then cut that for my pattern. it was one silly ass looking pattern and I was afraid it wasn't going to work - but it turned out nicely! I used saran wrap to help me place and pattern the cut outs and gold panels. They need a little work - they're held up with elastic bands that aren't terribly effective and I hot glued them to the base shoe in the hotel room - but they could have turned out much worse!
Though this is a simple looking costume, making and attaching all the bias tape was quite a pain, and putting in sleeves gave me a lot of difficulty (and I normally do pretty good with sleeves). in hindsight I wish I had had the time to do the trim so that it didn't need to be top stitched - or at least had the thought to look up how to do proper mitered corners - and I also wish I had not done everything opposite of what you are supposed to do to keep satin from puckering. - Personal Thoughts:
- her only appearance so far is in the Phase 0 light novels, but that isn't a choice on here... LOOK AT ME COSPLAYING SOMEONE NOT IN THE GAME I'M SO HIPSTER

- Wig Review
- It lays a little funny on top, but that might be due to the fact that it sat in my mailbox for a few days while I was away. x-x
GORGEOUS color, lovely and thick but combs through very nicely. Coscom's wigs are better than ever!
