About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
All parts of this costume were handmade to the specifications by the artist listed in the fan guide to Vampire Knight. Jacket and pants were made from a soft black twill material, and used the Burda 8186 (jacket lapel was slightly modified, and different sleeves were spliced in). All the grey "lines" are actually ribbon which was hand dyed to match a pale grey. All the ribbon is not only held down with a very thin heat and bond strip, but they are stitched along each edge to make sure they don't come off.
Diamond points are made out of sculpey clay, as are the "clips" on the right jacket side and the silver emblem. They are currently held on with Fabri-tac, but will likely be replaced with E6000 if any come off. Buttons are rose shaped buttons that were painted silver and glazed.
Vest is slightly altered from a Simplicity Project Runway pattern (now discontinued, which is SAD).
Underneath, there is a gun harness which is comprised of pleather and sewn and put together with rivets. Gun is clearly a plastic toy gun (namely because cons don't like it when your props look too real to modern stuff).
Dress shirt was sewn out of a lightweight dress shirt poplin, and has one breast pocket, darts and seams where specified as well as the two button collar. Thankfully this is always left open, cause the holes are still a little creaky.
Belt is just a white belt which was studded to match images.
Shoes are a brown wingtip oxford men's shoe (thank you clearance department at DSW).
Tattoo is made with printable tattoo paper and applied with each wearing of the costume. Image was vectored by me. - Personal Thoughts:
- I'll admit. I'm not the hugest fan of vampires, but when a cosplay friend of mine persuaded me to read the manga, I was skeptical. Then INSTANTLY hooked.
I knew what I needed to do. Cosplay!
Zero's my favorite character in that series, that poor boy goes through so much.

- Styling Notes
- I got this as a wig from an Ebay seller. All I had to do was trim it up a bit then chunk it out with Got2B Glued gel.
