Construction Details:

This outfit has really intimidated me for a long time since the idea of sewing a multiple paneled spandex bodysuit just sounded horrible. It especially frightened me since I had to do it all with no real pattern, but I took a friend's advice, made a plain bodysuit mock-up out of cheap spandex, drew out the panels, cut it up, and used that as my pattern. I then tested the pattern by making Rogue's outfit completely out of my cheap spandex and altering it where I needed to. Then it was finally time to make it for real. So I kind of made this bodysuit 3 times to make sure it was right! Making sure the seams were even turned out to be the most annoying thing since the 2 fabrics stretched differently. I had to baste all the edges before serging them to avoid too much bunching, but all the seams are serged so it's all pretty on the inside!
The belt is several layers of fun foam that I sanded the sides on, sealed with watered down elmer's glue, painted with some jewel fabric paint, glued together, and glued elastic to the back so it slips over a belt buckle. The last and most annoying part was the boot covers. I just pinned them around a pair of thigh highs I had as a pattern and then serged them together. I had a lot of trouble with them falling down though so I ended up tacking the boots to the bodysuit for now.

Personal Thoughts:

Rogue and Gambit are one of my 2 favorite couples ever so of course I've always wanted this as a couple cosplay. Although I've done Rogue's X-Men: Evolution outfit in the past, I'm so happy I was finally able to make the classic green and yellow bodysuit!

Styling Notes

For the wig, I just decided where I wanted the white, cut out that part of the brown, matched it to the white to make sure it was the right size, cut out the white, and sewed the bang part of the white by hand into the brown wig.
