Construction Details:

Let's start from the ground up! The shoes! It took me several tries, and a lot of teamwork to help with pinning. They're a little brighter red than the movie version, but it was easier to match the bright red pumps to vinyl fabric. I basically sewed a bunch of belts in different widths, then sewed one end to a zipper in random configurations. DH helped me pin the free end to the zipper, so the result is that they go on like real shoes and don't take much time. From the back they don't look super fabulous, but I'm still very happy with them. I added a few more straps around the foot and ankle, and voila, all done. I haven't worn them much, but they aren't uncomfortable for short periods of time.

The trench coat was a very lucky ebay find, the dress was purchased online too. I didn't realize it had panels of black lace overlay, but a sharp pair of scissors took care of that. The snake ring is an earring, and I assembled the necklace. The rest of the jewelry is store bought, but doesn't really show because of the wig and sleeves.

The makeup! Let me tell you how much I love Make Up Forever's HD foundation, it photographs amazingly well. It was really difficult to find Envy's white eyeshadow, so I'm wearing a primer followed by a good opaque silver by Tarte, then a white iridescent over that. Combined with the lashes I think it gives the right effect. Then some bright red lips to top it all off.

Personal Thoughts:

I finally like this costume enough to post it! I'd never heard of Scott Pilgrim before the movie, so this was the version of Envy I wanted to cosplay. I am currently reading the comics, still love her. Usually I don't act like the characters I'm cosplaying unless it's for the masquerade, or a photo op. Envy is really easy for me to slip into. She's pouty, she's out for revenge, and she just doesn't care about her fans and friends. I wonder what that says about me...
