Babble:
The most exciting new technique I used for this costume was foundation piecing for the mariner's compass designs on the front of the robe and the back of the jacket. I would say that two years of quilting classes were all for Clow, but that would be exaggerating a little.
I also invented a sort-of inverted facing technique for the yellow trim on the jacket, allowing it to remain unlined but still have all the outside edges finished.
I chose to make his undergaments into separates (pants and a shirt) instead of a long robe.
Fun Fact: Clow is my easiest costume ever to strip from many layers to just the pants and shirt underneath, and people watching the WCS live stream at Matsuri were treated to watching that process several times before the performances on stage began. - Personal Thoughts:
- Clow had been a dream costume of mine for a long time, and even after I bought the fabric and wig, he still had to percolate for over a year before finally coming together. It turned out to be worth it though.
