About this Costume

The black and blue are both stretch sateen. I patterned out all the petals, and it was HELL ON EARTH, especially considering Chihaya's dress is made to fit HER body and not mine, so I had some trouble. It was all sprayed down with glitter spray afterwards because we weren't about to hand sequin them or anything. It probably needs MORE sparkles. I was also upset because a hole got worn in the VERY FRONT of my skirt in my luggage on the way to the con.I made my own scalloped trim for the bolero because I couldn't find lace in a good color. I want to remake the bolero because I didn't leave enough seam allowance around the neck, and it gapes unless I pull it so tight that you can see my back between the dress and bolero and it pulls at the armpits. The boot covers could stand to be improved. The buttons were painted cobalt blue, and the gloves are just my Chane ones because I did not have enough fabric (or time) to make unique ones for Chihaya.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I am not really happy with how this costume turned out in the way of construction, but I was so excited to be idols with Megan and help make her dreams come true. I also felt a lot better with the whole outfit put together. One of the reasons I'm not happy with the costume is they sent me A TOTALLY DIFFERENT FABRIC from the ones they sent the east coast parts of the group in bulk even though we both ordered the same thing--I ended up using some of their excess for the butterfly motifs on the boot covers, and it obviously doesn't match. It was a lot lighter, appropriately so (especially considering Chihaya's dress is lighter than a lot of the others'), but it was a tealer hue than what I would've liked. I also didn't sew the buttons on the boots because Megan wasn't able to paint them before she had to sew hers on, so she didn't bother and I didn't bother either so that I would match.
