About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The crown was purchased and I altered is to look more princely and fit my tiny head.
The tunic was drafted and sewn in a blue fabric that is reminiscent of Shion's blue cardigan. I added gold trimming and rhinestones to give it a theatrical air.
The belt was found and painted with gold paint. I constructed a pouch since it is seen in several Shakespearean plays and in the time period.
The shoes were purchased and red laces and tassels were added.
The cape is completely hand-sewn. I hand-dyed silk velvet to get the red I wanted, because white silk velvet is cheaper to buy than colored. The fur was a plain white fur that I hand sew each individual black fur piece(that I had to sew into tassel shapes) on before cutting it out the shape. This took about a week. I first sewed the white fur and then added the black pieces, piece-by-piece in a pattern. It was time consuming, but I love the effect.
Easy project, just time consuming(though I love being able to spend time on a project) - Personal Thoughts:
- I wanted to make a matching costume to my Nezumi's Eve costume, so I designed a Hamlet costume to go with the Ophelia costume.
