About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This costumes was constructed/pieced together in about two days. I have had that costume for over 3 years, and I have made small chances and fixes. Originally I had gathered much of the base of the costume from other cosplay.
I've changed the wig three times, the shirt twice, and the cardigan three times(though I find myself liking how the first fits me the best)The coat was constructed in a day via quickly drafting my own pattern and correcting as I sewed. It is made with 100% wool and a standard lining since I wanted to appearance of a heavy coat. It is much warmer than I'd like, seeing I live and attend conventions in mainly the South. My favorite part was that I added decorative piping for the darker details. I have to deconstruct the back panel of the coat because silver fish got a hold of the wool.
The cardigan was purchased and hand-dye three times to give a old, worn feel. The shirt was tea-dyed as well, to give the feeling that Shion had been wearing the same clothes while in the West Block for several months.
I love this character and costume so, so much. I would wear it to every convention because I feel so strongly about the series. If you get to know me I will somehow convince you to watch the anime and possibly read the novels too. All my love and feels. - Personal Thoughts:
- I love this series so much; it really holds a special place in my heart. Shion is a very different character-type than what I've cosplayed in the past, but I think he his my favorite thus far. It is crazy to say this, but I learned a lot from Shion's narration in the novels.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- Cut the bangs and sides. (This was the first wig I used, not my current/ which I prefer)
- Wig Review
- It's a good wig! Uust not as thick as I would have thought.
