About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was a complicated costume just because there were so many details. The wig was bought off a chinese site and is a character wig. The pigtails came as is though I did have to style the bangs. The hat is made from felt. I cut a band and a circle and stitched them together. The feather hair ornament is a bunch of feathers super glued together, then to the hat. There are two hair ornaments. The smaller one is made from model magic and painted with gold and black (to make it darker) nail polish. The bigger one I took a clear flower shaped keychain I had, took the rings off, painted it with nail polish, hot glued some cord to it, which were stiffened with super glue. Both had bobby pins hot glued to them so I could put them in my hair. The shirt is a long sleeve button-down from the thrift store that I cut the sleeves off of. The shirt was made with a flap that covered the buttons and had the right collar so it was perfect. I hand-stitched the ribbon onto the front, around the collar, as well as the black around the shoulders. The arm bands/sleeves were cut from another long sleeve shirt because the cuffs on the first were too wide. The gloves are from party city which I cut the fingers off of. The corset was made by my mom and she added the yellow ribbon, and the lace. For the buckles I used belts, cutting them apart after I had buckled them and used lots of hot glue to keep them together. I attached them to the corset with a mixture of hot glue and super glue. The skirt my mom also made and added the black ribbon to the bottom. The thigh highs are from ebay and the boots I tried to make covers for but I'm terrible at it. I didn't want to mess these boots up or I would've painted them. I attached ribbon to the top as trim. Gonna make actual boot covers soon.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I had just seen the show a few weeks before AWA which is the big convention I go to. My friend was doing Walpurgis Night and I already really like Mami's costume design so decided to do it and we could cosplay together. I'm really glad I did, even though I had to rush to complete it because I ended up making new friends from the Madoka shoot.
