Construction Details:

Completed November 2012 I had yards of a gorgeous purple microsuede lying around and wanted to make something from Chrono Trigger or Cross for Youmacon, so this costume came to fruition! Plus it would keep me somewhat warm in chilly Detroit. I used a Lord of the Rings Simplicity pattern for the top half - it was almost identical to Schala's outfit, with the addition of princess seams - though in retrospect I should have modded them out, Schala's top is a bit too loose to warrant them, but what is done is done! The skirt is a very simple three panel skirt and the waistband is elastic. The seams are all finished on the inside and the overlapping collar piece is interfaced. The earrings are craft foam attached to clip ons (no pierced ears for me lol). The pendant is a resin gem I cast backed on model magic with a silver rope attached.

This costume is super comfy and very easy to get into/out of. Love it! Also a good costume for cooler/colder conventions, especialy since I can layer up underneath the garments to stay warm (and trust me I can get cold VERY easily ;_;).

Personal Thoughts:

I had the fabric lying around, and I love Chrono Trigger. It only made sense to make this. :) Schala is a character I didn't appreciate much at first - maybe because she wasn't playable, or maybe because I had not yet had my eyes opened up to all of the theories and connections in the Chrono saga, which reveal Schala to be quite the interesting and vital character to the plot. I'm glad I decided to give cosplaying her a go!

Styling Notes

Wig is a long, straight base wig with a clip-on - the bangs were trimmed in and the base layered and shortened in the back as originally this wig was about 50" long! I used an orange wrap for the finished look. I distributed the weight of the ponytail so it wouldn't weigh too heavy on my head/slip around too much. I love how it turned out but it ended up being a bit too tight and put a temporary dent in my forehead - ouch.

Wig Review

The fibers on this wig are amazing. I don't think it is kankelon but a much nicer blend that is very resistant to tangle.
