About this Costume
Construction Details:
The top is made from matte rough moleskin with leftover knit from my Lana dress for the armholes and collar piping. The furry butt wrap is made from a brown suede I had lying around and an IKEA faux lambswool rug (I had a real lambswool lying around, too, but since it's from 2008 and REAL, it has yellowed too much to use it ;_;). The pants are made from ultrasuede I purchased for another costume and never used. The armband is made from leftover Wizard ultrasuede, the pant fabric, and bias tape I had in my collection. The boots were modded with brown velvet I had in my fabric stock and white upholstery suede purchased by my boyfriend's mom that we never used. The hair spools are made from ACTUAL spools of the vintage variety from my grandma's sewing room. The triangle flap and arm bands are made with a navy cotton knit. So yeah. I only had to purchase 2 pieces of fabric and an IKEA rug to make this costume. AWESOME. :3
Personal Thoughts:
Before Legend of Korra even came out, I was SO ready for the sequel to Avatar: the Last Airbender. Having gotten into the original series right around the middle of season 1 airing on Nickelodeon, I think it's safe to claim I'm an early fan! So needless to say, when I saw the designs in LoK, and that everyone looked older and taller, I jumped on the Korra train before episode 1 even premiered! I probably should have waited a bit longer, because ironically, I did not know they were going to introduce a character that I resembled far better than Korra, but OH WELL~ IT STILL HAPPENED. XD
