About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was my first attempt at a top and a sailor collar without a pattern and it turned out to be a little challenging. I spent a lot of time altering the top to fit well. The skirt I was lucky to find at a second hand shop as it was summer when I was making this and I couldn't find nice houndstooth fabric anywhere. I cut off a lot of the length of the skirt and re-hemmed it and called it good. I think in all the costume took me about two weeks of sewing off and on in the evenings and a bit on the weekends. I added the hand-stitching about a year after originally wearing the costume and that took about 45 minutes with a needle and embroidery floss while I prepped for a photoshoot.
Personal Thoughts:
I knew I wanted to cosplay from Persona 4 as soon as I starting playing the game in 2010 but it took me awhile to choose a character. I went back and forth a lot between Chie and Rise and in the end I chose Rise more because of the time I had to create the costume and the difficulty of the project. The first time I wore the costume it did not have the hand-stitching and looked very little like the character. I completed the stitching in a morning before a photoshoot over a year later and it brought new life into the costume.
