About this Costume
Construction Details:
This is probably the cleanest thing I've ever made. I'm really really pleased with the tailoring, and finally learned bound buttonholes and welt pockets for the coat. Because the reds and blues had to match, Ashley and I made our own bias tape from fabrics we could find. The bias tape and a lot of the other finishing was done by hand, as usual.

Ashley learned resin casting for this one, and did our triangles and the studs on my epaulettes. I found plastic buttons in the right shape and bits to assemble for our cord stuff, and everything was painted to match.

Because we made these to go with Diana's rose bride, we also made all of our bits removable, using snaps on the triangles and epaulettes and lobster clasps for the cord.
Personal Thoughts:
I have ALL the shoulderpads in this coat.

Styling Notes
The Lulu was an awesome base and did not need to be altered at all, aside from moving the part as far over as I could. I had also purchased a pack of slate blue wefts, and, using a darning needle, threaded a bit of hair at a time through the scalp of the wig, so the hair would blend a bit better and look more natural (well, as natural as two shades of blue hair can look, I guess). Then the extensions were trimmed, and I used my trusty extreme hairspray and a blowdryer to get the anime bangs going on. I'm very happy with it.
Wig Review
I really wish a slighter darker, more saturated blue had been available for the base, but I hope that's on the horizon. The wig was easy enough to assemble that if I find a possible replacement, I'll just wind up remaking it.
