About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
White parts are bridal satin. Nothing fancy. Tutu was bought. I ended up trimming it because it was a little too long and looked funny on me. I'm glad it came out the way it did because I wasn't crazy about the tutu at first.
The yellow wings in the back were made of wire and cellophane. The blue antenna things are clear plastic pipes that I painted. I added yellow feathers where the wings and pipes intersect so it had a uniform look.
The necklace was made from sculpty. The wings are a single piece of plastic painted with nail polish. Bracelets were wooden beads that I painted. The crown is made from model magic.
The pointe shoes I am wearing have been deshanked and the toe boxes crushed. I know how dangerous it is to go on pointe without being properly trained. This way the shoes have the look of a pointe shoe but not the functionality. Meaning, I couldn't go on pointe even if I wanted to. They've also been dyed (foam brush dipped in RIT dye and painted on) so they were more pink.
I think that's everything. Sorry for the wall'o'text! - Personal Thoughts:
- I love Princess Tutu. This costume was something I worked off and on for a couple of months so I'm really happy with how it came out.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- The wig was fairly thick so a lot was chopped off so the feathers wouldn't look bulky on top. The hair curl is supported by floral wire and lots of hairspray.
