About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I already owned the pants, and I bought the boots from ebay. I also found the white shirt from Salvation Army and the gloves at Party City (which I then cut the ends off of), so huzzah! rnrnOtherwise, the vest is made from scratch from black cotton sateen. I used a vest pattern from Simplicity and then had to do quite a lot of fitting to it to make it fit my body (silly big men's patterns). I made buttonholes via my sewing machine (it's a lot of fun and super easy!) and then sewed the buttons on. Piece of cake.rnrnThe yellow wrap is just a long piece of yellow fabric. The purple thing (I call it a butt wrap) is white cotton sateen that I gradient dyed light purple to darker purple. I painted on the flowers/snowflakes/whatever you want to call them by hand.rnrnI owned a bokken from my days in my school's sword team, so I took a tsuba from my old short sword, put it on my bokken, painted the blade, and did a tsukamaki wrapping with brown fabric ribbon. It's not super pretty, but it works.
- Personal Thoughts:
- A few friends talked me into cosplaying Heisuke before I had played or watched Hakuouki! I love how dorky he is but also how cool he is at times. He's just such a cutie, and my cosplaying staple is the shota, so this obviously had to happen.

- Cosplay Buzz
- Wig Name
- Hakuouki Heisuke Todo Dark Brown Short Layered
- Styling Time
- 1 hour
- Styling Notes
- Chopped off a lot of length as the wig I received didn't look like the picture. I layered it in the sides and back and added hairspray.
- Wig Review
- Wig didn't look like the picture, so I did a lot of styling to get it to where I wanted.
