About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Honest to god, the belt was the most difficult part of this costume. There is SO MUCH VARIATION in how its portrayed--in Cooke and Brubaker's run, it's a thick black band at her waist. In more recent comics, it's her whip threaded through a buckle (which is cool looking, but doesn't actually make a lot of combat sense...?). Adam Hughes frequently drew her without a belt at all, though for a DC Direct maquette he gave her a cat-shaped belt buckle which you occaaaaasionally see elsewhere. Other artists, here and there, just give her a thinner black belt around her hips. After pulling my hair out for a while, I decided to just go with what looked best on me.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love, love, love Catwoman, and found myself rereading Brubaker and Cooke's (amazing) run on her title earlier this summer. I was also pondering what to cosplay for SDCC. One thing led to another...
This costume has honestly become one of my favorites. It helps that Cooke's design is SO GREAT, but it's also one of those costumes where I really do just gain a new sort of attitude when I wear it. It's also actually pretty comfortable! I think this is one I'll be wearing for a while.

- Styling Notes
- Just trimmed it some in the back and styled the bangs a little.
