About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I looked at a variety of Domino's suits over the years since some of them have color and armor bits on them, but in the end I decided to stick with the X-Force: Sex & Violence design because I really loved the series. I based the majority of it off of the 1st reference image, the Cover with Wolverine (hawt!). But since Domino wears a black bodysuit in the comic, I wanted mine to look a bit unique but still utilitarian, so I made a suit out of a rubber coated spandex and gunmetal grey knit, in a custom pattern designed by me. Unfortunately the patterning of the 2 different fabrics and seams doesn't show up well in photos so in the future I will replace the grey parts with a different, more eye-catching fabric. That way you can see the design of the suit!
The eye tattoo is a silicone patch which I cast in dyed black silicone, so I wouldn't have to paint it on every time.
I did the white face makeup for a photoshoot with Jay Tablante on the Wednesday before NYCC but during the convention I didn't want to paint my face white because right after hall closing, I had a dinner meeting in Manhattan. Didn't want to show up all gothed out O_O.
Gathering the arsenal was the most fun part of the costume I think. I have 2 hand guns, a P-90, 2 sets of throwing knives and a big knife strapped to my arm lol. - Personal Thoughts:
- I completed this outfit in time for New York Comic Con, for a chance to shoot at a unique Manhattan location and the opportunity to pose on the Marvel stage for a while during the convention. Domino has been on my cosplay list for a year or so, after reading the X-Force: Sex & Violence comic series. Neena is such a fantastically developed complex character, and I hadn't seen that many Dominos in the costume circuit. I wanted to pay her tribute. And play with an arsenal of weapons haha.
