Construction Details:

This costume was a nightmare and literally took months to complete. It was my first time making armor and using craft foam turned out to be a blessing and a curse. It was easy to work with, but I clearly needed to seal it with something to keep it from bending and cracking.
I spent at least 20 hours painting for this outfit. All of the details on the robe were traced on freehand with pencil and then the the outline was painted. After that, I painted the designs in with diluted paint to give it a faded look.
Sadly, I'm not thrilled with the end result. I can't help but find all of the flaws with this one whenever I look it over in photos. I'd like to bring it out again, but I would have to fix or remake a lot of the pieces.

Personal Thoughts:

Ma Dai is my favorite DW character by far and being him is fun because of his personality - goofy and laid-back.
