Construction Details:

The main body of the suit was designed from a heavily modified dress pattern. It is complete with a lining, french seams, and an invisible zipper down the back. The collar is propped up with interfacing. The gold trim is double folded and stitched onto both the collar and side flaps (which had to be sewn on separately). The lines down the front are made of three different sizes of ribbon sewn together.
The gloves were hand-sewn. The white and brown pieces are made of stretch fabric and were originally sewn separately and then attached to each other. The gold trim on the gloves are attached to interfacing to prop up the sides.
The boots were the most difficult part. I started with ankle boots and had to apply the boot cover. I traced an outline if the boot/my leg onto brown suede fabric and had to sew the white part on after. After a lot of trial and error making sure it lined up, I added an invisible zipper to the back. To make the boot cover stand up, I used heavy-duty interfacing and then finally attached the gold trim. I then hot glue the bottom of the boot cover to the edge of the boot and reinforced it with white electrical tape. The heel was also fashioned from white electrical tape.
The thigh highs were painted white at the top and I sewed the garter belt into them. The staff was crafted out of wood, spraypainted silver, with black electrical tape wrapping the handle. I made the floating gold orbs out of styrofoam balls which I painted/sealed and attached to invisible beading string.

Personal Thoughts:

I originally had the idea for this costume July 2010. I finally started January 2012 and finished July 2012. This was the most difficult and time-consuming cosplay I've ever made with an average of 5-6 hour days for months put into it. This is without a doubt my dream cosplay as Tear is the character I most identify with.
